Active/Passive Debate One for Ages but Not Boardroom, BoardIQ

Partner Mark Parise was quoted in a BoardIQ article about a longstanding active-versus-passive debate that has not made its way to fund boardrooms. Mark said that directors are more interested in fund performance versus peers than against benchmarks or passive funds.

“While the active-versus-passive debate is at times generically discussed, more generalized reports like this are not typically used with board responsibilities in connection to fund-by-fund specific contract reviews, approvals, negotiations,” Mark said, adding that boards tend to rely on third-party researchers for peer-group comparisons.
