Astana

Morgan Lewis opened an office in Astana, Kazakhstan, in 2014 to establish a permanent presence in the nation’s capital city. In addition to Kazakhstan, our team represents clients across Central Asia and the Caspian region, which are rich in oil reserves, minerals, and metals. Our presence in the largest economy in Central Asia delivers an important portal for clients in the energy, finance, telecommunications, utilities, and other sectors.

Aset Shyngyssov, Astana’s managing partner, also leads our Almaty office. He has more than two decades of experience handling complex transactions in various sectors, including oil and gas, energy, and banking, throughout Kazakhstan and elsewhere in Central Asia. Our capabilities from Astana include litigation, construction, real estate, intellectual property, regulatory, tax, corporate governance/compliance, and competition law matters.
