Douglas A. Hastings

Doug represents clients in a variety of matters related to climate change and other Clean Air Act issues. He has represented multiple state entities in litigation over issues including states’ public trust responsibilities and compliance with air quality standards. Doug also represents biofuels and agricultural groups in matters related to the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program and greenhouse gas regulations.

Another focus area of Doug’s practice has been CERCLA cleanups and litigation. His CERCLA work has included contribution litigation in federal courts, assistance with settlement discussions, and advice regarding contaminated site investigations.

In the administrative space, Doug works with clients across different industries to achieve their objectives in the context of agency proceedings. He often works with clients to pursue long-term goals through a combination of administrative advocacy, comments on agency rulemakings, and litigation.

Doug maintains an active pro bono practice and has been particularly involved in immigration proceedings such as defensive asylum cases, requests for Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) status, and U-Visa applications for victims of domestic violence.
