WASHINGTON, DC, June 5, 2023: For the 14th consecutive year, Morgan Lewis kicks off Community Impact Week, the firm’s global series of innovative pro bono and service programming that celebrates its year-round commitment to making a meaningful, measurable difference in the lives of the underrepresented.
“A Morgan Lewis tradition for many years now, Community Impact Week celebrates the firm’s efforts and impact by hosting a number of service and giving opportunities for all at the firm to participate in,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “The scope of our pro bono work—and the willingness of our people, clients, and nonprofit partners to dedicate their time and energy to support great causes—regularly leaves me in awe.”
This year’s Community Impact Week includes global pro bono and service opportunities ranging from legal clinics and trainings to clothing drives and care package assembly. Programming features discussions with leaders of the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association, Le Refuge Foundation, and Alliance for Children’s Rights, organizations with which the firm regularly partners, on how to better serve the most vulnerable members of our local communities.
For the last five years, 100% of Morgan Lewis’s eligible lawyers firmwide met the firm’s annual Pro Bono Challenge to dedicate at least 20 hours to pro bono service. In fiscal year 2022, the firm’s lawyers contributed nearly 115,000 hours of free legal services benefiting more than 2,000 pro bono clients—ranging from survivors of domestic violence to families fleeing persecution in their home countries, to nonprofits supporting children with autism.
