Sara A. Wells devotes her practice to estate planning, estate and trust administration, tax planning, and business succession planning. Sara assists clients worldwide, including family business owners, real estate developers, and entrepreneurs, in the creation of their estate plans with a focus on wealth preservation, asset protection planning, and succession planning. Sara develops wealth transfer strategies for her clients, including the creation of irrevocable insurance trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, and defective grantor trusts. She also assists clients in modifying existing irrevocable trusts through judicial proceedings, nonjudicial settlement agreements, and decanting.
Sara often serves as a trustee for her clients’ family trusts and as personal representative of their estates, and counsels individuals and financial institutions serving in those roles.
Sara is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, and is ranked in Band 1 by Chambers High Net Worth. She has been named a Top Lawyer by Boston Magazine, a Top Female Attorney in Massachusetts by Super Lawyers, and a Top Woman of Law by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. Sara has served on the board of the Boston Estate Planning Council, and she founded the Trusts and Estates Consortium in 2005. She also serves on the board of the Morgan Lewis Foundation, and is the ML Women Boston office representative.
