NEW YORK, October 2, 2024: Morgan Lewis received multiple recognitions at TMT Finance’s TMT M&A Awards USA 2024. Partner Andy Lipman was recognized as Lawyer of the Year and the firm won Fiber Deal of the Year and Digital Infrastructure Mid-Market Deal for its work in connection with GI Partners’ announced acquisition of DQE Communications. The annual awards recognize the leading advisors, investors, and dealmakers involved in telecommunications, media, and technology (TMT) mergers and acquisitions across the United States.
Andy, who established and leads Morgan Lewis’s TMT practice, was selected for being a “driving force in advancing the telecommunication industry.” Over the last 12 months alone, Andy has led more than 45 deals across a broad spectrum of telecom assets, including metro fiber, fiber to the home, wireless, data centers, towers, and submarine cables. Andy’s deal portfolio includes infrastructure transactions in the United States, Europe, Asia, South America, the Middle East, and APAC.
As lead legal advisor in numerous deals, he guides large teams through deal structuring, due diligence, reviewing purchase agreements and financing documents for regulatory compliance, and obtaining approvals from regulatory agencies at the state and federal level, including those subjected to additional scrutiny by the Federal Communications Commission, Team Telecom, and Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.
Garnering additional category honors, a Morgan Lewis team advised on regulatory issues in connection with GI Partners’ acquisition of DQE Communications from its parent company Duquesne Light Holdings, counseling both the seller and the buyer in this transaction.
