Partner Michael Kraut is quoted in a Corporate Counsel article that looks at the potential role of legal departments in supporting the mental health of lawyers at law firms. One of the examples used in the article is US Bank’s implementation of guidelines designed to promote well-being in its outside counsel relationships through a pilot program the bank launched in tandem with seven law firms, including Morgan Lewis – which has now been expanded to eleven.
Mike shared his views that lawyers do need to prioritize their own well-being, “as it directly impacts their ability to provide high-quality service.”
Mike also stated that the collaboration with US Bank has worked out as hoped, with both the bank and his firm benefiting.
“It takes a leap of faith for risk-averse lawyers to believe that clients will really embrace this vision, not just respect it but embrace it as an important core value,” he said. “The more clients let the lawyers know that they believe it, the better success they’re going to have in helping to make a difference in the field.”
