NEW YORK, October 7, 2022: The partnership of Morgan Lewis has voted unanimously to extend Jami McKeon’s term as Firm Chair through September 26, 2026. The firm will now have the benefit of Ms. McKeon’s extraordinary leadership for another four years.
“We—together as a firm and in partnership with our clients—have accomplished great things, even in the face of the unimaginable adversities and uncertainties of the past few years,” said Ms. McKeon. “I am most grateful for our ability to stay true to who we are and what we do best, and to our community commitments, while more than doubling in size and expanding our client services to new practice areas and new geographies. I am honored to continue to serve as Firm Chair for the next four years, and to continue our momentum as we embark on our 150th anniversary as a firm.”
“Jami is a true pioneer who has had a profound impact on the legal community at-large and Morgan Lewis in particular, establishing the firm as a destination for our clients’ most important matters and for elite lawyers who want to be part of a firm with global reach that prioritizes exceptional client service and collaboration,” said Steve Reed, Lead Advisory Board Member and leader of the firm’s global antitrust and competition law practice. “Since becoming Chair in 2014, Jami has led bold initiatives that have made Morgan Lewis a recognized global powerhouse, significantly strengthening our practice groups and industry teams while remaining fully committed to the well-being of our people, the firm’s inclusive culture, and philanthropic service to our communities. We are very excited to have the benefit of her strategic vision and inspiring leadership for another four years.”
Ms. McKeon has served as Firm Chair since October 1, 2014. She continues to shepherd the firm’s strategic global growth, now with 2,000 lawyers working across 17 time zones. Just six weeks into her first term as Firm Chair, she successfully spearheaded the largest combination in the firm’s history with more than 750 lawyers and professional staff joining from Bingham McCutchen. She also orchestrated a major push into Asia and the opening of seven new offices overall in the past eight years across the globe: Hartford, Century City, Singapore, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, and, this year, Seattle.
A champion for diversity, inclusion, and well-being in the legal community, Ms. McKeon is responsible for designing and implementing innovative programs—often the first-to-market—to promote a well-rounded culture, earning the firm a prominent spot on The American Lawyer’s A-List. ML Well was launched in 2019 to provide a comprehensive multidimensional program offered to all firm personnel to create a healthier, more engaged environment. Now in its fifth year, Morgan Lewis’s global pro bono challenge once again achieved 100% participation firmwide in contributing at least 20 pro bono hours annually. No other firm of similar size suggests such a global achievement, earning Morgan Lewis #1 for pro bono by Vault and #1 for Breadth of Commitment by The American Lawyer’s Pro Bono Scorecard. More recently, in the aftermath of the senseless killing of George Floyd, the firm’s Mobilizing for Equality (MFE) task force was launched with 14 working groups dedicated to tackling racial injustice from unique angles. Financial Times Innovative Lawyers North America recently named Morgan Lewis the Most Innovative Law Firm for Diversity & Inclusion for MFE’s sweeping efforts.
