Morgan Lewis partner Sheri Dillon spoke with Tax Notes about the additional relief needed for taxpayers whose filing deadlines have yet to be extended by the US Internal Revenue Service. Sheri is quoted extensively throughout the article, noting in part that Guralnik v. Commissioner “helps as long as the taxpayer files the petition on the first day the court reopens.” However, Sheri also noted that “the date the court opens may be a different date from when the states and cities lift their stay-at-home orders.”
