Alison Sclater supports the firm’s pro bono committees and promotes pro bono participation by identifying and developing meaningful pro bono opportunities, including partnerships with firm clients. Alison brings to her role a range of experience in the not-for-profit and private sectors developing and managing pro bono initiatives and handling pro bono matters.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Alison directed the pro bono program at New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) for more than nine years, managing relationships with more than 60 large law firms, recruiting pro bono attorneys to handle NYLAG matters, and developing pro bono projects with legal departments at leading corporations. She also worked as a litigation associate at another top tier law firm, conducting internal investigations and representing clients in a variety of commercial matters, while also maintaining a robust pro bono caseload.
Alison’s experience in the not-for-profit sector also includes a fellowship at the National Women’s Law Center focusing on women’s health issues, working at Pro Bono Net to develop and manage online tools to support the delivery of legal services to low-income individuals, and, prior to attending law school, serving as the resource development officer for a domestic violence social services organization.
