WASHINGTON, DC, March 18, 2025: Morgan Lewis partners Kenneth Nunnenkamp, David Plotinsky, and Carl Valenstein have been named to the Foreign Investment Watch (FIW) Top Advisors 2025 list, which recognizes leading professionals who provide advice and counsel concerning national security review of foreign investments in the United States and overseas. This marks the third consecutive year Kenneth and David have been recognized as a Top Advisor by FIW. Additionally, the firm again has more lawyers included on the annual list than any other organization.
Kenneth, chair of the firm’s CFIUS Working Group, represents clients in international trade and national security matters before US federal courts and government agencies, including the US Departments of State, Commerce, Homeland Security, Defense, and Treasury. His practice involves internal investigations and disclosures, including making voluntary disclosures and responding to government demands, as well as federal court defense against government actions. He also advises on compliance counseling and training, transactional due diligence, and statutory submissions to US government agencies.
David is the former acting chief of the US Department of Justice’s Foreign Investment Review Section and represents clients such as venture capital, private equity, and infrastructure firms. He guides clients through government national security review processes for foreign investment, including review by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States and Team Telecom. David also advises clients on other government-related matters including congressional investigations, outbound investment, export controls, sanctions, forced labor laws, telecommunications licensing, and supply chain security.
Carl is a member of the firm’s CFIUS Working Group who advises clients on international risk management, including compliance with the foreign investment review process, export control and sanctions, and anti-money laundering, anti-boycott, and anti-corruption laws and regulations. He also advises on, and has participated in, internal investigations, enforcement cases, and dispute resolution proceedings relating to his transactional and regulatory practice.
