Partner Stephanie Feingold spoke with Bloomberg Law about a series of new state laws banning per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, also known as PFAS or “forever chemicals,” in cosmetics. Stephanie discussed the difficulties that companies may face when trying to modify their products to comply with the new laws.
“If they can eliminate PFAS altogether, certainly a lot of companies are doing that. But they need to have an alternative that will perform the same function,” Stephanie said. She also noted that some state laws require companies to disclose any PFAS added to a product, “which comes with its own headaches.”
