Morgan Lewis Continues to Achieve 100% in Global Pro Bono Challenge

October 18, 2024

For the seventh consecutive year, 100% of eligible Morgan Lewis lawyers have met the firm’s 20-hour Pro Bono Challenge. Each lawyer contributed at least 20 pro bono hours, with the average exceeding 50 hours of pro bono service in the 2024 fiscal year.

“Our shared dedication to pro bono worldwide is a foundational principle of Morgan Lewis,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “We are united in our commitment to help those in our communities who otherwise would go without access to justice. All our lawyers—whatever their workload and no matter how senior—make a meaningful difference in the world by helping individuals and families in need, as well as nonprofit and nongovernmental groups that serve vulnerable populations.”

Over the last year, firm volunteers globally served 2,365 clients on a range of pro bono projects, including aiding efforts to combat domestic violence in the United Kingdom, helping Afghan nationals and their families apply for legal status through the US immigration system, securing voting rights for Mississippi residents threatened with disenfranchisement, and restoring military honors to an American Private who was murdered in 1941 by a military police officer, among others. This year-round commitment to advocacy and allyship is celebrated every June during the firm’s Community Impact Week, which includes acts of service and pro bono clinics, legal training and educational opportunities from community partners, and food and clothing drives.

For the fourth year in a row, the firm was ranked #1 in Breadth of Commitment for its dedication to pro bono as part of The American Lawyer’s 2024 Pro Bono Scorecard, an annual survey of pro bono efforts at major US law firms, as well as achieved high rankings in the publication’s accompanying 2024 International Pro Bono Scorecard. Morgan Lewis also continues to earn one of the top spots among Vault’s list of Best Law Firms for Pro Bono.
