SINGAPORE, May 17, 2024: The Financial Times named Morgan Lewis the winner of its Innovative Lawyers in Deal Making award and highly commended the firm for Innovative Lawyers in Restructuring at the 2024 Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards Asia-Pacific, held in Hong Kong on May 16. The firm was also ranked as the 25th most innovative firm in Asia in the publication’s Law Firm Index Asia-Pacific rankings, which assess firms’ innovation, use of data and technology, approach to employees, and social responsibility.
The Innovative Lawyers in Deal Making honor recognizes Morgan Lewis’s work for Singapore-based global port operator PSA International in establishing a joint venture with Kazakhstan’s state-owned railway operator Kazakhstan Temir Zholy. The combined entity, KPMC, aims to improve transport connections and trade flows from China and the rest of Asia to Europe via Kazakhstan.
The Innovative Lawyers in Restructuring recognition is for the firm’s work for PNG Air, Papua New Guinea’s second-largest domestic airline, in securing a vital write-down of debts under a court-approved creditor scheme to avoid bankruptcy.
