WASHINGTON, DC, April 10, 2023: Morgan Lewis partners Giovanna Cinelli and Kenneth Nunnenkamp have been named recipients of the Law360 Distinguished Legal Writing Award as part of the 2023 Burton Awards, a nonprofit awards program recognizing excellence in legal writing. Honorees were selected from entries submitted by the 1,000 largest US law firms.
Giovanna and Kenneth were recognized for their report, Analysis: It’s Time to Create ‘The Commission on Foreign Investment and National Security’, which was published in August 2022. The paper addresses the existing limitations of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States and proposes its transformation into a statutorily established commission comparable to others operating at the federal level.
Giovanna leads the firm’s international trade and national security practice. As a practitioner for more than 30 years, she counsels clients in the defense and high-technology sectors on a broad range of issues affecting national security and export controls, including complex export compliance matters, audits, cross-border due diligence, and export enforcement, both classified and unclassified.
Kenneth represents clients in international trade and national security matters before US federal courts and government agencies. His practice involves internal investigations and disclosures as well as federal court defense against government actions. He also advises on compliance counseling and training, transactional due diligence, and statutory submissions to US government agencies.
Giovanna, Kenneth, and other Burton Award honorees will be recognized during a ceremony on June 12, 2023, in Washington, DC.
