The arrival of partner Meaghan Kent was announced in a The Legal Intelligencer article covering the push by law firms to hire intellectual property (IP) lawyers.
At Morgan Lewis, Meaghan will continue to focus on copyright registration and counseling clients on IP portfolio development and management.
“I believe it’s an important piece of IP for companies, and for any law firm to have attorneys who are well versed in that area is important,” Meaghan said, referring to copyright.
She pointed out that several cases are being litigated in court that could impact how a company protects its intellectual property.
“Fair use has been something that people have been watching. That certainly drives a lot of the counseling aspect for us,” she said.
“It’s an exciting time to be a copyright practitioner.”
