NEW YORK, September 9, 2022: Morgan Lewis has been named the winner in one firm and two individual categories in the 10th annual LMG Life Sciences Americas Awards, highlighting firms and practitioners behind the most innovative and challenging life sciences work over the past year in the regulatory, corporate, intellectual property, and litigation areas.
The firm received the “Patent Impact Cases of the Year” award for achieving a significant victory at the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on behalf of Nippon Shinyaku Co. in Nippon Shinyaku v. Sarepta Therapeutics, led by partners Amanda Williamson and William Peterson. Partners Christopher Betti and Dennis Gucciardo were recognized as Patent Strategy Attorney of the Year – Midwest and US Rising Star – Regulatory, respectively.
A registered patent lawyer, Christopher focuses his practice on biotechnology and pharmaceutical patent matters, with an emphasis on biologics-related patent prosecution and patent litigation. Christopher has a particular concentration in product lifecycle management, intellectual property portfolio management, pre-litigation counseling, due diligence analysis associated with venture capital financing and public offerings, as well as opinions and strategic advice relating to complex patentability, patent validity, infringement, and freedom-to-operate issues.
Dennis advises domestic and global medical device manufacturers through the myriad of US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, requirements, and expectations. From start-ups to large multinational corporations, Dennis provides counsel throughout the product lifecycle, from bringing novel technologies to market to maintaining compliance with postmarket requirements and preventing FDA enforcement actions. Dennis also assists in the defense of criminal investigations and conducts internal investigations of alleged regulatory violations.
