In April 2021, partner John Lavelle and a firm team won a pro bono victory on behalf of low-income Pennsylvania households seeking retroactive emergency food benefits denied to them by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). In a Q&A published by The Legal Intelligencer, John discussed the challenges the legal field faced this year, how he has developed his practice, and the best advice he’s ever received.
John attributed this advice to his grandfather—formerly a lawyer in Carbon County Pennsylvania—who told him, “to be a good and effective lawyer, you had to make your clients’ problems your problems.”
