Morgan Lewis, Villanova Law to Tackle ‘Age of the Empowered Athlete’ at 2022 Moorad Symposium

PHILADELPHIA, March 24, 2022: As college athletes enter a new era of more rights and opportunity, the 2022 Jeffrey S. Moorad Sports Law Journal Symposium is set to tackle the key legal issues emerging from this area of sports in "The Age of the Empowered Athlete."

Morgan Lewis partner Jeff Moorad, chairman of Morgan Lewis’s global sports industry team, founded the annual event and will lead a panel featuring practicing agents and lawyers discussing new career avenues in sports law. Partner Don Shelkey will discuss the current opportunities around the monetization of college athletes’ name, image, and likeness (NIL); partner Sharon Perley Masling will address new trends in athlete mental health and well-being; and associate Crystal Carey will speak about potential unionization among college athletes and the future of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
