‘Rippling Effect’ of Pay-Transparency Laws to Test Legal Departments, Corporate Counsel

Associate Dan Kadish spoke with Corporate Counsel about the recent wave of wage transparency laws, including New York City’s new law requiring employers to list salary ranges in job postings. In discussing complying with the new rules, Dan noted that “it might be difficult to determine what language actually meets the requirements of each jurisdiction’s disclosure rules.”

The shift in legislation is also causing companies to rethink the way they determine pay rates, Dan added. “Once [salary] information becomes public, then individuals at the company will be able to see what companies are paying or proposing to pay for certain roles.”
