Partner Sandra Moser spoke to The National Law Journal about the Biden administration’s focus on anticorruption as a national security priority, and how the US Department of Justice has worked in recent years to encourage companies to report misconduct voluntarily—particularly in foreign bribery cases, where corporations and counsel often work with federal investigators. “You put all of those things together and I really am left questioning whether some of the strides I think the department made in encouraging voluntary self-disclosure are undermined by this, certainly, at least in the minds of companies or defense counsel who are working with them regarding the very difficult decision of whether to disclose in the first place,” Sandra said.
