Tuesday, May 10, 2011

NEW YORK, May 10, 2011: Strengthening its presence as the premier firm for energy legal services, Morgan Lewis today announced that Gregory Eisenstark has joined the firm as senior counsel in its Energy Transactions practice, resident in the New York and Princeton offices. Mr. Eisenstark most recently served as Associate General Regulatory Counsel for Public Service Enterprise Group.

Mr. Eisenstark has successfully litigated rate and regulatory filings before the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, other state utility commissions, and in state and federal courts. Additionally, he played a principal role in drafting New Jersey state legislation that permits utilities to own renewable generation and energy efficiency measures and to earn a full return on investment. He also successfully defended, in both state and federal courts, a New Jersey Board of Public Utilities decision allowing utilities to retain ownership of renewable energy certificates for pre-existing power purchase contracts.

"Utility companies continue to face increased market competition, changing industry structure, and greater government regulation. Greg will be a key contact for our clients as they face new federal and state regulations and come up against regulatory audits, formula rate cases, and transmission incentive rate filings, as well as any related litigation," said Energy Transactions practice leader David Asmus.

He joins one of the most highly regarded practices in the country-a team with more than 100 attorneys, dedicated to all aspects of legal service in the energy industry: corporate, financial, transactional, labor, regulatory, and litigation.
