Morgan Lewis’s intellectual property (IP) practice was profiled by Law360 in recognition of its selection as a 2024 Practice Group of the Year. In the profile, practice leader Lou Beardell, along with partners Jason White, Krista Vink Venegas, Ph.D., and Mike Abernathy, discussed the firm’s work and significant victories for clients, including a $58 million attorney fee award for representing Oracle in a software copyright battle and a win for Korean drugmaker Hugel at the US International Trade Commission.
In discussing what differentiates Morgan Lewis’s IP practice from other firms, Lou noted that the team has more than 50 people with Ph.D.s.
“One of the strengths of the firm, in addition to having a trial-ready team, is we have a very deep scientific bench. That deep technology bench helps us handle all kinds of cases,” Lou said.
