DRI Product Liability Conference

Partner Rachel Raphael will be speaking at the 2025 DRI Product Liability Conference in Miami. Rachel will be speaking on the panel Litigation Considerations for MoCRA and Microplastics to discuss key developments shaping the cosmetics industry. The Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act (MoCRA) marks the most significant expansion of US Food and Drug Administration authority over cosmetics in nearly 85 years, introducing requirements for facility registration, adverse event reporting, recalls, and good manufacturing practices—changes that are likely to drive increased litigation.

The panel will also look at the growing wave of lawsuits involving microplastics, which have sparked public concern and regulatory scrutiny due to studies linking them to potential health risks. Early cases focus on deceptive advertising, but these claims may evolve into product liability lawsuits, following patterns seen with other chemicals and compounds.
