Daja Apetz-Dreier

Daja is a co-leader of the firm’s ESG sustainability and advisory practice and routinely advises companies in relation to environmental matters such as climate change, greenwashing, and regulatory and enforcement questions. Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Daja was the Munich office managing partner of another international law firm, where she served as the office chair of its Women’s Initiative Network. Trilingual, Daja speaks German, English, and French.

• Advised and represented an IT company in connection with a claim against its insurer for damages relating to the past takeover of employees from a competitor
• Support of a chemical company in connection with an accident having taken place at one of the premises and related claims asserted in court 
• Advising and representing a company in the IT and software sector to assert damage claims in relation to defective products in a cross-border conflict
• Advised and represented a German stock corporation in the solar energy sector in litigation related to purchase price adoption in a post-M&A dispute in connection with the sale and transfer of a Spanish solar joint venture
• Litigated a claim for damages in the amount of €660 million in connection with the issuance of CMBS bonds amounting to €143 million
• Represented a company in the chemical industry before a conciliation committee, or “Einigungsausschuss” against a facility managing company of a chemical plant, leading to a very favorable settlement for the client
• Filed protective writs in Germany for a Switzerland-based chemical company in potential court proceedings against numerous German and other European competitors in connection with the labelling requirements under the CLP Regulation and REACH
• Represented the owner of a shopping center in eastern Germany in a lawsuit regarding the deficiency of two parking decks
• Represented a German Family Office in extensive court proceedings against a former CEO based on fraudulent business activities and risk management by the CEO
