To shape future decisions, she said that “groupings based on common characteristics would make more sense than just a class-wide categorization” due to variations ranging from health outcomes to ecological persistence. Although the measure aligns with public sentiment, Stephanie said, its stringent cutoff dates could make “regulations vulnerable to challenge down the road if they end up having to be rushed” ahead of the US Environmental Protection Agency’s existing statutory schedule.
