Maciej Bernard Plotka

Maciej has experience handling energy matters for a variety of private companies and public bodies. He has worked on complex M&A transactions in the gas sector, advised clients on State aid and EU funds for clean energy projects, assisted clients in green bonds investments, and assessed the impact of the EU Green Deal for international businesses. He advises clients on ESG matters (including the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, Emissions Trading System, and Voluntary Carbon Markets).

He advises clients on EU digital regulation (including the Artificial Intelligence Act, Digital Markets Act, Digital Services Act, and Data Act), cybersecurity (including the 5G Toolbox, NIS 2 Directive, and Cyber Resilience Act), and privacy law (GDPR). Furthermore, he assists clients in EU trade and export control matters (including dual-use control, customs cases, and EU sanctions).

He has gained experience at national and European institutions, as well as international law firms in three different European jurisdictions. Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Maciej worked for the European Commission (DG COMP) in antitrust in the European energy sector. He also previously worked as a case handler for the Polish Competition Authority (Office of Competition and Consumer Protection), where he assessed the compatibility of projects with EU State aid rules.

He is fluent in Polish, French, and English, and has basic knowledge of Italian.
