Tairan (Terry) Wang, Ph.D., has served intellectual property (IP) clients for more than 10 years. He focuses on drafting, prosecuting, and litigating patents in diverse technologies such as ecommerce, telecommunication, semiconductor design and manufacturing, computer hardware and software, internet, artificial intelligence, and big data processing. Terry also handles various post-grant review proceedings (including inter partes review and covered business method), patent invalidity contentions, patent noninfringement opinions, freedom-to-operate analyses, trademark applications, patent and trademark license agreements, ITC 337 investigations, and due diligence reviews of IP portfolios.
Terry has written and/or prosecuted more than 300 patents in a variety of technical fields related to electrical engineering and computer science, including but not limited to signal processing in communication systems, cellular networks, wireless LAN networks, Wi-Fi networks, network infrastructure, 3GPP standard, Internet of Things, semiconductor technology, and magnetic recording.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Terry worked at other international general practice law firms and an IP boutique firm for many years. Before entering the practice of law, Terry gained extensive technical knowledge during his work at Seagate Technology and in his doctoral studies. When pursuing his Ph.D., Terry researched on improving diversity and throughput in multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) and relay-based wireless communications. Terry is the co-inventor of one US patent and the co-author of more than 20 technical publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and academic conferences.
Terry received his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School in 2016. Terry has been a member of the US patent bar since 2011. He is fluent in Chinese.
