As an associate in the Corporate Business Transactions team, Maria L. Sasinoski counsels public and privately held companies on securities and corporate finance matters. Maria advises clients on securities regulation and related reporting, proxy solicitation, debt and equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, consent solicitations and general corporate governance, including board composition matters and environmental, social and governance (ESG) concerns.
Maria previously practiced corporate law with a large Pittsburgh firm, where in addition to her work with public companies on both buy-side and sell-side merger transactions and related financing matters, she represented private equity sponsors in their acquisition financing needs to support platform growth strategies, primarily in the healthcare space.
Prior to earning her law degree, Maria gained more than a decade of custody and outsourced account asset servicing experience with a Fortune 500 institutional bank, with a particular focus on the back-office processing of complex corporate actions on a global scale. Additionally, she’s served as a project manager overseeing international back-office outsourcing initiatives for large investment management firms, as well as integration of DTCC transformation initiatives into proprietary bank systems and ISO 20022 SWIFT messaging for corporate actions.
During law school, Maria served as the executive articles editor of the Duquesne Law Review, where she published a note on mortgage-backed securities litigation resulting from the 2008 housing crisis. Maria received ten CALI awards during her time at Duquesne Law, including in Securities Regulation Research, and at graduation was recognized with the Dr. John & Liz Murray Award for Excellence, which is traditionally awarded to the graduating student who has made significant contributions to the Duquesne Law Review.
Maria’s pro bono work includes representation of children in obtaining Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) and supporting the Name Change Project and voters’ rights initiatives.
