Grant R. MacQueen

Grant R. MacQueen is the deputy leader of the firm's global business disputes practice. He litigates complex business disputes of all types, including those involving contract claims and claims of fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and unfair trade practices, in US federal and state courts and alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Grant represents leading companies in the financial services, pharmaceutical, technology, energy, and manufacturing industries, among others. He manages all phases of disputes, from pre-complaint investigations and negotiations through fact and expert discovery, trial, and appeals.

Grant also handles class actions and other multi-party proceedings, including those involving claims of fraud and negligent misrepresentation, consumer fraud, false advertising, and antitrust violations, among others, in US federal and state courts.

Grant has served as the chairperson of the Practising Law Institute’s Specialized Deposition Techniques program and has co-authored articles published in Law360 and Judicature, a journal published by the Bolch Judicial Institute of Duke Law.

  • Represented residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) trustees in defense of several federal and state court class actions brought by mortgage loan borrowers asserting claims for, among other things, consumer unfair and deceptive trade practices
  • Represented RMBS trustees in defense of several class, derivative, and individual actions brought by investors in certificates issued by RMBS trusts in federal and state court, alleging claims for, among other things, violation of the Trust Indenture Act of 1939, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of the trust agreements in federal and state courts
  • Represented indenture trustees in defense of breach of indenture claims brought by corporate debt noteholders relating to alleged failure to enforce the issuer’s alleged breaches of indenture
  • Represented national banking institutions in defense of federal and state regulatory investigations and qui tam actions related to residential mortgage-backed securitization
  • Represented a trustee of GNMA Guaranteed Grantor Trusts in defense of federal court action filed by residual class holders alleging a breach of contract claim
  • Represented a retail company in defense of contract claims related to revenue sharing and access to information by an investor
  • Represented not-for-profit organization and several of its officers in defense of federal court action by officers of member organization alleging breach of organization bylaws, breach of fiduciary duty, and libel, among other claims  
  • Represented pharmaceutical companies in defense of federal court nationwide class actions by consumers alleging fraud, consumer fraud, and false advertising
  • Represented an automobile manufacturer in defense of class action by consumer alleging violation of Biometric Information Protection Act
