Jerry Fujii

Gerald “Jerry” Fujii advises real estate investment funds, REITs, sovereign wealth funds, and real estate lenders on various real estate transactions and green financing matters in Japan. Notably, Jerry helped secure the first green loan and the first sustainability-linked loan that were used to finance data center developments in the country. Recently, Jerry has been actively involved in data center development projects for lenders, developers, and operators.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Jerry spent more than 25 years as a partner at other leading international and domestic law firms.

  • Represented mandated lead arrangers, underwriters, and bookrunners in the syndicated financing of hyperscale data center developments in Japan by an Australia-based data center developer
  • Representation of major US-based data center developer in the structuring of its first hyperscale data center development in Japan
  • Representation of a Japan-based data center developer and operator in its joint ventures with major real estate investment funds for several data center developments in Japan
  • A Japanese real estate investment firm in the sale of a commercial building in Tokyo to a global investor; in the buyback of Eurobonds secured by the Fuso portfolio; and as lead deal counsel in the acquisition and financing of a commercial building in Tokyo
  • A Japanese financial institution as lead deal counsel in the financing of a restructured hotel portfolio
  • Middle Eastern and Chinese sovereign wealth funds in their first acquisitions of real estate in Japan
