A seasoned first-chair trial lawyer and litigation strategist, Edward Ulloa defends clients in high-risk mass tort and products liability litigation across the United States, including asbestos, talc, e-cigarette and chemical exposure, flammable fabric, and automotive product liability actions. Ed has served as first-chair trial counsel in 50-plus jury trials in more than a dozen states.
Ed has represented manufacturers of naval and industrial equipment, automotive friction and gasket materials, joint compound and drywall materials, and flammable fabrics at trial. He has additionally been involved in product liability litigation on behalf of major automobile manufacturers involving the design and performance of roof structure, air bag, door latch, and seat assemblies.
He has represented clients in fact and expert witness depositions in cases across the country and has been involved in prelitigation investigations of actions involving clients.
Ed represented the defense bar in oral argument relating to the coordination of asbestos litigation in Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego Counties. He also served on the defense steering and advisory committees related to discovery and litigation general orders promulgated by the coordinated Southern California asbestos trial courts.
He has also served as a city attorney, defending government tort litigation involving dangerous conditions of public properties and federal civil rights actions, and prosecuting building and safety and code enforcement violations in civil and criminal courts.
Ed frequently speaks and writes about asbestos and talc litigation and has previously served as vice chair for DRI’s Talc Litigation Seminar and chair of DRI’s E-Cigarette Litigation Seminar.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Ed was a partner at a national law firm, where he served as the chair of the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) committee. Ed began his legal career as a deputy district attorney, prosecuting sexual assault and domestic violence offenders.
