Christopher B. Dempsey litigates and counsels clients on a broad array of employment issues, including class/collective action, multiple plaintiff, and individual plaintiff employment discrimination and wage and hour cases. His experience includes defending claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, and Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
Chris handles cases in federal and state courts, before administrative agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, in pre-litigation mediation, and arbitration. From the motion to dismiss stage through complex discovery, summary judgment, and trial, Chris represents employers and ERISA plan sponsors and fiduciaries in disputes across the spectrum of employment claims. Chris also advises clients on compliance with fast-developing equal pay and job transparency legislation across the country, with a particular focus on the Illinois Equal Pay Act and its certification, pay disclosure, and job posting transparency requirements.
Chris maintains a robust pro bono practice, with a particular focus on asylum claims and conditions of confinement litigation.
Chris graduated magna cum laude from Loyola University Chicago, where he served as editor-in-chief of the law review and traveled to Washington, DC to complete in the international rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
