Andrea DeMelo Laprade advises a diverse range of clients including investment funds, investment banking firms, and financial institutions acting as an issuer, initial purchaser, borrower, or lender in a wide range of transactions. She concentrates her practice primarily on securitizations and structured finance, representing clients engaged in domestic and cross-border public offerings and private placements of debt and equity securities, secured credit facilities, and warehouse lending transactions.
Andrea maintains an active pro bono practice and is particularly involved in immigration proceedings such as requests for Special Immigrant Visas for Afghans who were employed by or worked on behalf of the US government and U-Visa applications for victims of domestic violence. She also aids veterans seeking military discharge upgrades.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Andrea served as a security forces officer in the United States Air Force and worked in various roles in human resources and management upon her retirement. While in law school, she was editor-in-chief of the Catholic University Law Review. Andrea is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, conversant in French, and has professional knowledge of Russian.
