Aliza R. Karetnick

Aliza’s experience with complicated cases led to her appointment as a special master by the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She is an active member of several industry associations and regularly writes and speaks about legal and business issues affecting the personal care and food industries.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Aliza led the commercial litigation and dispute resolution practice in the Philadelphia office of a national law firm, where she also served as co-leader of its cross-practice manufacturing and consumer products team and class action litigation team.

• Defended a large color cosmetics company in class actions involving allegations of false advertising and misbranded products
• Represented a cosmetics holding company in putative class actions across the country involving allegations of false advertising relating to PFAS
• Defended a national bank in litigation involving allegations of fraud and breach of fiduciary duty relating to account holders’ Ponzi scheme
• Defended a large financial institution in multiparty disputes involving allegations of fraud related to a Ponzi scheme
• Represented a global flavor manufacturer and distributor in a complex commercial dispute arising out of an asset purchase
• Represented a multinational perfumer and flavor producer in complex post-acquisition commercial litigation matters and enforcement of nondisclosure agreements
• Represented a technology service provider in litigation involving the application of foreign antitrust and intellectual property laws
• Represented a national federated tax-exempt organization in a Delaware governance and merger dispute
• Represented manufacturer in putative class action involving environmental nuisance claims
• Obtained a complete affirmance of summary judgment on novel issues in the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit relating to copyright preemption and claims under RICO, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, and the Lanham Act
• Represented a publicly traded global manufacturer and purveyor of packaged foods in trade secrets matters
• Defended a color cosmetics brand in a products liability class action involving talc
• Advised a haircare manufacturer on Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) claims issues

• Represent an ingredient supplier in Lanham Act litigation involving company’s primary marketplace competitor in the sweetener industry
