Alyssa R.M. Pugh

Alyssa provides counseling for both domestic and international matters related to patent prosecution. She has an extensive background conducting due diligence, invalidity, and freedom-to-operate analyses. She has engaged in developing and expanding patent portfolios for small biotechnology startups and universities, as well as managing and coordinating prosecution of large, worldwide patent portfolios for international corporations. She engages in patent counseling, with a focus on assisting clients to build valuable and cohesive IP strategies for their innovations. Alyssa has also provided both legal and technical support for projects related to US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) compliance for nutritional supplements and nutriceuticals. She has also represented clients in negotiations pertaining to business transactions involving IP transfer, including drafting licensing provisions and collaboration agreements.

Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Alyssa was an associate at a Pennsylvania-based intellectual property boutique, where she focused on biomedical device technology and chemical formulations patent matters. She also worked as a chemical analyst at a consumer healthcare company, with experience in analytical techniques including chromatography. Her academic experience included participation in cancer and plant genetics laboratories, where she cultivated a deep familiarity with cell culture techniques and life cycle management of cells.
