Collin W. Park counsels clients on patent issues, including patent litigation, licensing, prosecution, and portfolio management. He represents both patent owners and those accused of infringement through all stages of litigation, including presuit investigations, settlement negotiations, and trial. He also handles Section 337 proceedings before the US International Trade Commission, as well as post grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board at the US Patent and Trademark Office. Collin appears in district courts throughout the United States.
Collin has handled patent lawsuits in a number of patent litigation hotbeds, including the US District Courts for the District of Delaware, the Eastern District of Texas, the Northern District of California, the Central District of California, the Southern District of California, the Southern District of New York, and the District of New Jersey.
Clients ranging from startups to global conglomerates turn to Collin for guidance on patent issues, including risk management, patent acquisition, joint development, patent portfolio management, and patent due diligence in business transactions. He also represents licensees and licensors in patent licensing negotiations, and drafts patent licensing agreements and settlement agreements involving patent licenses.
Before joining Morgan Lewis, Collin was a primary patent examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), where he examined patent applications in microprocessor-based control systems for automotive vehicles and airplanes for nearly seven years. Today, Collin’s practice includes filing and prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO, managing teams of patent attorneys and agents prosecuting patent applications for specific clients, and counseling clients on patent prosecution strategy. He has filed and prosecuted patent applications in a variety of technology areas, including OLED and LCD displays, telecommunications, and semiconductors. Collin also provides clients with infringement, validity, and freedom to operate opinions.
