Partner Vishnu Shankar was quoted in a Legaltech News article that discusses an artificial intelligence treaty put forth by the human rights organization, the Council of Europe, and allows countries to fill in the blanks as they wish.
At its core, the treaty is essentially a framework for signatories to abide by, with many specifics left up to countries to fill in as they see fit. “It doesn’t actually create a set of rules, because things are pretty high-level,” said Vishnu. “While some countries may take a direct approach ‘like the European Union did with the EU AI Act, others may choose to not do that in any meaningful sense’.”
