NEW YORK, October 26, 2023: Morgan Lewis’s nearly 2,000 lawyers achieved 100% participation in the firm’s annual Pro Bono Challenge for the sixth year in a row. Each lawyer contributed at least pro bono 20 hours with our average exceeding 50 hours to pro bono service in the 2023 fiscal year.
“We are continuously called to service across our global communities as the demand for legal counsel and advocacy on behalf of those who endeavor to secure basic resources and exercise fundamental rights remains unfulfilled,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “At Morgan Lewis, we remain steadfast in our efforts to employ not only our skills and time, but the awareness, empathy, and compassion necessary to provide accessible representation so long as the need exists.”
In the last 12 months, Morgan Lewis lawyers around the world have had the privilege to represent individuals and families as they have sought safe harbor or fresh starts, either in their own neighborhoods or on distant shores; tried to access earned benefits and available relief; and fought for essential freedoms and rights. This year-round commitment to allyship and advocacy is celebrated every June during the firm’s Community Impact Week, which includes acts of service and pro bono clinics, legal training and educational opportunities from community partners, and drives for food and clothing.
For the third year in a row, the firm was ranked #1 in Breadth of Commitment for its dedication to pro bono as part of The American Lawyer’s 2023 Pro Bono Scorecard, an annual survey of pro bono efforts at major US law firms. Morgan Lewis also maintains the top spot in Vault’s list of Best Law Firms for Pro Bono, achieving the #1 ranking for 2022, 2023, and 2024.
