Morgan Lewis partner and leader of the firm’s labor and employment practice Grace Speights was featured in a National Law Journal article about the African American Managing Partners Network, a group started in Washington, DC, in 2009 that fosters mentorship and networking to create a more diverse legal profession. In the article, Grace, former managing partner of the firm’s Washington, DC, office, discussed the early days of the network and the importance of mentorship. “We have a bond in the group. If somebody said I was referred to you [by someone] in [our] small group, we were going to talk to them. And that was for the purpose of trying to increase the numbers of black lawyers in the profession and help retain them,” said Grace.
