Michael T. Mortensen focuses on traditional labor-management relations and the National Labor Relations Act. His labor relations experience includes collective bargaining, labor contract administration, grievances and arbitration hearings, National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) proceedings, litigation, work stoppages, acquisitions and divestitures, and multiemployer benefit plans. Mike also advises employers who face union organizing, corporate campaigns, large-scale protests and demonstrations, and representation elections, as well as assisting with the development of comprehensive programs to promote positive employee relations and effective leadership.
Mike spent several years directly interacting with employees on behalf of management during union organizing drives in a wide variety of industries and locations across the United States. He develops and presents programs to promote positive employee relations and effective leadership and presents interactive training seminars to all levels of management, human resources professionals, industry organizations, and professional associations on a wide range of labor and employment topics.
Before joining Morgan Lewis, Mike was a partner at a large national law firm, where he was co-chair of the firm’s retail and distribution industry group, and previously served as in-house labor counsel and director of labor relations for large national corporations in the retail (general merchandise and grocery), distribution, and healthcare industries.
