Eric Mackie defends global and domestic clients throughout all stages of a broad range of complex and sensitive employment litigation matters, including high-stakes claims involving antidiscrimination and antiretaliation laws, wrongful termination, wage and hour issues, and breach of contract. He represents and advises clients through all stages of litigation, from initial assessment to trial, and represents clients in both state and federal courts as well as before agencies including the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the US Department of Justice, and various state agencies.
In addition to litigating cases with a focus on achieving favorable outcomes, whether through dismissal at the dispositive motion stage or success at trial, Eric provides strategic counseling to business leaders on all aspects of the employee lifecycle. This includes advising on hiring, performance management, compensation, accommodations, leave, terminations, pay equity, internal investigations, and restrictive covenants. Eric’s approach ensures that clients are not only compliant but also strategically positioned for success in an increasingly complex legal landscape.
Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Eric litigated complex commercial disputes and appellate matters in the litigation department of a national law firm.
Eric has been elected to the Best Lawyers in America “Ones to Watch” list numerous times and was selected as a fellow of the 2021 National Employment Law Council Academy. Eric is also actively involved in the Chicago legal community, including through his service as an officer on the board of directors for the Black Men Lawyers’ Association.
Eric is a former judicial law clerk to Judges Jane R. Roth and Theodore A. McKee of the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and Judge R. Barclay Surrick of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
