Without Private Fund Rule, Mutual Funds Face Disadvantage, Ignites

Partners Christine Lombardo and Christine Ayako Schleppegrell were quoted in an Ignites article that discussed an appeals court’s decision to overturn a US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rule that would have enacted mandatory disclosures for private funds, curbed certain practices, and banned others.

“That [SEC] rule would have increased the compliance burden for private funds and reduced returns to investors by passing on those costs to the fund and to end investors,” said Christine Ayako Schleppegrell. Added Christine Lombardo: “Private funds are limited in their distribution to more sophisticated high-net-worth individuals, accredited investors, and institutional clients.”
