Telehealth Visits Increased 63-Fold for Medicare Patients, According to HHS Study, MedCity News

According to a recent report from the Department of Health and Human Services, since the start of the pandemic sweeping policy changes made by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have led to a surge in virtual doctor visits. While Medicare patients are able to continue accessing behavioral health visits at home per the Consolidated Appropriations Act, associate Jacob Harper told MedCity News that coverage of other telehealth services on a more permanent basis is yet to be determined. “While Congress has made certain in-roads related to tele-mental healthcare through the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, general clinical services, such as primary care, need an additional legislative fix for permanent adoption,” Jacob said.
