Paul Mesquitta represents clients in complex commercial litigation, international arbitration, and privacy matters across a range of industries including financial services, aviation, and engineering. Paul is part of the firm’s global insurance recovery practice, advising on coverage disputes across various industries (with a particular focus on the aviation industry) and across multiple lines of insurance, including casualty, directors and officers, contractors all risk, and cyber. Paul has represented clients in commercial litigation arising out of some of the most high-profile issues in recent years, including acting for aviation lessor policyholders in relation to multibillion-dollar claims amid the Ukraine conflict, and investment funds in relation to several securities litigation claims under Section 90A of the UK Financial Services and Markets Act 2000.

  • Representing various clients in litigation in the Commercial Court against the various international reinsurers who participated in the reinsurance of interests in aircraft let to the Russian airlines, with the matters we are currently representing valued to be in excess of US $4 billion total
  • Investment funds in a multimillion dollar High Court claim under s.90A of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000
  • A large European bank in an LCIA arbitration against a number of borrowers and guarantors for breach of a long-term facility agreement
  • A large US defence manufacturer in an LCIA arbitration against a counter-party for breach of contract
  • Various London market Reinsurers in connection with a coverage dispute arising from a CAR policy, where the relevant construction was taking place in Kuwait
  • A Kazakh oil services company in connection with a coverage dispute with its London market insurer arising from its D&O policy
