Dan’s diverse technology experience also includes global positioning satellite systems, wireless communication systems, cellular communication systems, radio-frequency identification systems, near-field communication systems, medical implants, endoscopic surgical devices, robotic surgical systems, semiconductor devices and manufacturing, light emitting diodes, image processing, printing systems, image recognition, database management, guided wave systems, smart cards, distributed ledgers, and consumer products, among others.

Dan also supports his clients in a variety of technology-related transactional matters, such as software licensing agreements and patent and related know-how licenses, portfolio acquisitions, and investment funding. He also has an active pro bono practice focused on asylum and citizenship issues.

• Serves as outside patent counsel for a US multinational retail corporation preparing and prosecuting patent applications for the company in various technology areas, including software and fulfillment process technology, machine learning, and natural language processing
• Served as outside patent counsel for US multinational medical technology corporation preparing and prosecuting patent applications for the company in various technology areas, including foot, ankle, and shoulder implants; provided counsel on various IP issues including conducting patent infringement and invalidity assessments; defended client in various patent infringement suits from both competitor and non-competitor patent holders
• Served as outside patent counsel for a large publicly traded company specializing in radiation oncology treatments and software; counseled on various IP issues, including conducting IP due diligence on various deals, conducting freedom to operate opinions, patent infringement and invalidity assessments, and assessing pre-litigation and post-grant review strategies
• Served as outside patent counsel for on-demand retail delivery company managing various patent portfolios and preparing and prosecuting patent applications for the company in various technology areas including self-driving vehicles, delivery systems, and retail packaging
• Defended US affiliate of international toy manufacturer and US multinational game studio in a seventeen-patent case concerning RFID-tagged toys and associated game software, including identifying a sub-set of the asserted patents for inter partes review filing and institution
• Defended US medical software company in multi-patent infringement suit concerning speech recognition and transcription technologies, including filing of instituted inter partes review against asserted patents
• Defended US cybersecurity company in patent infringement suit concerning computer security software
• Defended leading enterprise software company in a five-patent case concerning multidimensional databases and parallel processing technology
• Assisted US housewares manufacturer and its affiliates in the sale of substantially all of their assets – including intellectual property assets – to a suburban New York-based private equity fund
