As a former senior political appointee at the US Department of Labor (DOL), attorney-advisor to a commissioner at the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and labor policy advisor on Capitol Hill, Pierce provides insight into all aspects of employment law policy and enforcement, including government and congressional investigations.
Pierce assists employers with complex employment law matters and uses his broad knowledge of employment law policy and enforcement to help companies maintain effective compliance policies and procedures.
As a senior political appointee at the DOL, Pierce helped direct the department’s legal strategy for managing congressional oversight and investigations, including responding to congressional subpoenas. Pierce also provided strategic guidance to department leadership on testifying before congress.
While at the EEOC, Pierce provided legal counsel and strategic guidance on a range of employment civil rights issues and negotiated and drafted key EEOC policy statements in the disability and LGBT rights fields.
As a labor policy advisor on Capitol Hill, Pierce counseled committee leadership on legislation and oversight related to the EEOC and DOL, including wage and hour and paid leave issues.
Pierce continues to write regularly on key employment law topics and his articles have been cited in several published federal court decisions.
