Trade Associations

Trade association meetings and programs regularly touch upon competitively sensitive matters that require the involvement of and guidance by knowledgeable antitrust counsel. Our lawyers provide antitrust advice to guide and structure the activities of a significant number of trade associations, large and small.

For example, we:

  • Team with association staff to identify antitrust issues in proposed association activities and programs and to design effective approaches to address these issues
  • Participate in association meetings that involve high-level executives of competing companies to provide antitrust guidance and ensure antitrust compliance
  • Review agendas, minutes, and competitively significant documents prepared by or for the association
  • Ensure that association staff and members are well educated on the antitrust laws and appropriate antitrust compliance procedures
  • Liaison, as appropriate, with local counsel for member companies on antitrust and other legal issues of concern to the industry
  • Assist associations and their members with problems in government regulation, business and taxation (including nonprofit taxation), labor, environmental matters and legislative issues
