Applying for the Summer Program

  1. Submit your cover letter, resume, and transcripts through your career services office or to the legal recruiting contact for the office you are interested in.
  2. Screening interviews are held for qualified candidates either on campus (if available; see the calendar) or in a local Morgan Lewis office, typically 20-30 minutes.
  3. Eligible candidates may be invited to an in-office callback visit to meet with members of the recruiting committee and attorneys in the practice area of interest.

Our summer associate program is one of our most important recruiting tools. It is designed to give our summer associates as much insight into our practice as possible.

We begin with our "kickoff," a multiday orientation session that brings together at a single location summer associates from throughout the firm. We provide time for and encourage socializing, but we also provide a view of what life is like at Morgan Lewis, including an introduction to our technology, practice areas, and professional ethics and responsibility.

Office by office, our summer associates are given the opportunity to work on matters that would typically be assigned to first-year associates. Although work assignments vary among practice groups and offices, we rely on our summer associates to help complete actual client work, while ensuring that they participate in a generous mix of training opportunities, with a focus on presentation, oral argument, legal writing and practice-specific skills.

Our unique PICS program allows law students to spend real time at a public interest or community service organization.
