Summer Associates Speak

Pro Bono in 2007

More than 92,000 hours were spent on pro bono representations, at a value to our pro bono clients of tens of millions of dollars.

More than 75% of the firm's attorneys contributed at least 20 hours to a pro bono matter; representations span all practice groups and offices.

Representations included more than 1,100 active matters, including 425 new matters.

Full "above the line" credit given for pro bono time charges.

On-Campus Recruiting

Morgan Lewis established its Public Interest and Community Service Program (PICS) in 2001. Every summer associate is given the opportunity to participate in PICS, which we believe to be unlike any program offered by any other U.S. law firm. Under this program, every summer associate has the option of either participating in the firm’s traditional summer associate program for the full summer, or spending the first part of the summer (at least six weeks) in the traditional program, followed by a full-time assignment at a public interest or community service organization. Summer associates who select the PICS option receive a stipend equal to the salary that they would have received at the firm.

In prior years, summer associates worked for organizations such as the United Nations, Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, Legal Counsel for the Elderly, the Support Center for Child Advocates, the American Civil Liberties Union, Center for Constitutional Rights, Education Law Center, NAACP, National Public Radio, Nature Conservancy, New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, and Sanctuary for Families. Find out more about the organizations our summer associates were placed with in the summer of 2007.
